The 7.62x54r was designed in 1891 in what was then the Russian Empire for use as a service cartridge in the bolt-action Mosin Nagant. The Winchester 1895 was also chambered in this cartridge as a result of a contract with the Russian government and today the cartridge is still being used in a variety of rifles including the Dragunov, PKM, and a variety of sniper rifles. In fact, not only has the 7.62x54r remained popular and continued to see Russian military use but it’s become the military-issued cartridge with the longest service life in the entire world. If you have a Mosin Nagant or some other rifle chambered in this rimmed rifle cartridge, this ammunition is just what you need.
At 180 grain this is considered fairly heavy for the cartridge and is capable of delivering some serious knockdown power. These are FMJ rounds, so they don’t expand on impact, and they’re best used for target practice, shooting drills, and plinking. Each round has the following velocity and energy:
There are 20 target rounds in this box of ammunition from Sellier and Bellot. Sellier and Bellot was founded in 1825 by Louis Sellier, a German businessman who got the company off the ground by making percussion caps for the infantry. Not long after he got the company going he was joined by Jean Maria Nicolaus Bellot, and with Bellot’s help the company not only flourished but took off. Sellier and Bellot manufactures ammunition at their plant in Vlasim, Czech Republic, and all their ammo is made with quality components and adheres to stringent specifications. Feed your Mosin Nagant good-quality ammunition by placing your order for these 7.62x54r rounds from Sellier and Bellot.
